The Democratic Party of Mongolia visited the TFD

The Secretary for Foreign Relations and Cooperation of the Democratic Party of Mongolia, Mr. Sukhbaatar Tsedenjav and Mrs. Oyunchimeg Dash paid a visit to the TFD on January 14, 2019. Received by Director of International Cooperation Bo Tedards, the delegation discussed the two countries’ experiences of democratic development, and possible activities to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Mongolia’s democracy movement.
Signing of the MOU with the Chang Fo-Chuan Center for the Study of Human Rights at Soochow University

TFD established International Fellowship Program in 2003 and granted fellowships to well-established international scholars and practitioners who envisage pursuing research related to Taiwan’s democracy and human rights, with the aim to highlight Taiwan’s democratic experience and encourage democracy and human rights study.

The delegation of students from Hong Kong Baptist University paid a visit to the TFD on December 25th, 2018.Hosted by Vice-president Jiann-Fa Yan, the students were very much interested in the mission of the TFD, including grants, programs,Taiwan’s women rights promotion and protection, and so on and so forth.

Visit of Dr. Harry Harding, University of Virginia

Dr. Harry Harding, Professor at the University of Virginia, along with Dr. Syaru Shirley, adjunct professor of political economy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong paid a visit to the TFD on December 25, 2018 and was received by Dr. Yeh-Chung Lu, Vice President of TFD and Dr. Allen Peng, Director of Research and Development Department. After VP Lu’s introduction on the vision and working programs of TFD, both sides engaged in talks on the global democratic recession, TFD’s efforts on combating disinformation and misinformation, works on strengthening democratic system through collaborations with domestic and international partner NGOs, .

Visit of Members of Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania

Members of Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania paid a visit to the TFD on December 24, 2018 and were received by Dr. Yeh-Chung Lu, Vice President of TFD and Dr. Allen Peng, Director of Research and Development Department. After VP Lu’s introduction on the vision and working programs of TFD, the delegation discussed the work of the TFD and exchanged opinions on TFD’s effort on furthering Taiwan’s public democracy, combating disinformation through various activities.

The 15th Delegation of US Congressional Staff paid a visit to the TFD on December 20, 2018. Received by Director of International Cooperation Bo Tedards, the bipartisan delegation discussed the work of the TFD and Taiwan’s democratic development and current challenges to global democracy.

Seminar by Dr. Changho Kim, Democratic and Human Rights Fellow at TFD

The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and the Taipei Bar Association, Chang Fo-Chuan Center for the Study of Human Rights at the Soochow University co-hosted a seminar for Dr. Changho Kim, the TFD’s Democratic and Human Rights Fellow, at 19:00-20:30 on 19 December, 2018 at the Taipei Bar Association. Dr. Kim delivered a presentation entitled ‘Business Human Rights in Japan, Korea and Taiwan ~Development and Remaining Challenges~’ and was moderated by Dr. Jau-hwa Chen, director of the Chang Fo-Chuan Center for the Study of Human Rights at the Soochow University. Dr. Clarence Yu-Shiou Chou, director of the Taipei Bar Association, was invited as the seminar's discussant.
