Seminar by Alexandra Kaiser Dissertation Fellow at TFDPrint
Date: 2021-08-04
The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy hosted a seminar for Ms. Alexandra Kaiser, TFD’s Dissertation Fellow, on August 4, 2021 from 14:00-15:30 through Microsoft Teams online platform.
Ms. Alexandra Kaiser’s presentation is entitled “Democratic-Autocratic Cooperation: China’s Use of INTERPOL,” the overall seminar was moderated by Dr. Mab Huang, Professor, Department of Political Science, Soochow University, while Dr. Yu-Jie Chen, Assistance Research Professor from the Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica, was invited as the seminar's discussant.
Ms. Alexandra Kaiser has made extensive research in international law during recent years and raises interesting discussions regarding International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). INTERPOL’s activities follow the principle of neutrality, yet some autocracies use INTERPOL for legitimate as well as for illegitimate aims, amongst them China (including cases involving the extraditions of Taiwanese nationals to China rather than to Taiwan).
